MTDD brings together photographic practice, visual-product design, and imaging software for photographers and visual creators. The company grows from direct fieldwork: travelling, observing, making photographs, reconstructing places, and asking how an image should live beyond the moment it was captured.

Photography as a foundation

The work begins with a long-term photographic archive. Projects made across Mount Kailash and the Tibetan Plateau sit alongside coastlines, cities, roads, weather, industrial landscapes, and aerial viewpoints. Each photograph remains connected to its place, its journey, and the conditions in which it was made.

The 2023 journey to Mount Kailash, the return fieldwork in 2024, and the 2025 Journey to Mount Kailash exhibition form one continuing body of work. Photography is not decoration around the company; it is the source of the way MTDD thinks about images, presentation, tools, and the experience of making visual work.

From fieldwork to visual form

MTDD extends photographic research into physical and digital forms. For the Mount Kailash project, field photography was combined with photogrammetry and spatial reconstruction. The resulting exhibition brought together fine-art prints, an illuminated sculptural mountain, and experiments in virtual and mixed-reality presentation.

This movement between image, object, and environment is central to the company’s visual-product work. Existing exhibition material remains documented on this website so that the process is visible alongside the finished photographs.

Imaging software

mtFrame is an iOS photography utility currently in development. It comes from the same practical concern for how photographs are framed, described, edited, and exported. The planned workflow supports one image or a batch while preserving each photograph’s own frame choice, adjustments, and camera information.

A connected practice

Across photography, exhibition work, physical objects, and software, MTDD follows four working principles:

• begin with direct observation and original fieldwork;
• keep the photograph and its context legible;
• build tools and objects around real creative workflows;
• describe work truthfully, including what is complete and what remains in development.

Project timeline

• 2023: a 12,000-kilometre overland journey from Beijing to Mount Kailash established the core photographic and spatial material.
• 2024: return fieldwork added photography and data for a broader reconstruction of the region.
• February–March 2025: Journey to Mount Kailash was presented at MyPrecious Art Space in Beijing.
• Current work: the photography archive and visual-product research continue while mtFrame is developed for iOS.
